Event-Based and Publish/Subscribe Communication
نویسنده
چکیده
The communication models found in distributed systems can be classified according to the following two attributes: who initiated the communication and how the communication partner is addressed. The resulting four models are shown in Table 1. Provider-initiated communication is also often called push communication and consumerinitiated communication is also often called pull communication. abstract

Distributed Event Routing in Publish/Subscribe Communication Systems: a Survey
Distributed event routing has emerged as a key technology for achieving scalable information dissemination. In particular it has been used as preferential communication backbone within publish/subscribe communication system. Its aim is to reduce the network and computational overhead per event diffusion to a set (possibly large) of interested recipients. This paper introduces an unifying framew...
متن کاملUsing the Publish-Subscribe Communication Genre for Mobile Agents
We advocate the event-based communication genre for mobile agent communities, which is useful for exchanging and disseminating large volumes of small lightweight messages. We propose that the publish-subscribe model complements the proprietary or standard agent communication languages. We describe how we implemented the event notification mechanism for mobile agents, and analyse experiments tha...
متن کاملDesigning and Prototyping an Event-based Communication System on Mobile Ad Hoc Networks
The event system and more specifically publish/subscribe systems plays an important role in designing and implementing a communication paradigm for distributed systems and networks. Publish/subscribe system with its desirable decouplings seems quite promising for middleware working on distributed networks working in mobile environments. In fact, using event system in such networks empowers the ...
متن کاملAwareness and Agility for Autonomic Distributed Systems: Platform-Independent Publish-Subscribe Event-Based Communication for Mobile Agents
We propose using the publish-subscribe model to complement proprietary or standard agent communication languages, useful particularly in the case of exchanging and disseminating short communications about events and consequently, reducing complexity of multi-agent messaging. We describe how we implemented the event notification mechanism for mobile agents, and analyse experiments that demonstra...
متن کاملHOMED: A Peer-to-Peer Overlay Architecture for Large-Scale Content-based Publish/Subscribe Systems
Content-based publish/subscrbe systems provide an useful alternative to traditional address-based communication due to their ability to decouple communication between participants. It has remained a challenge to design a scalable overlay supporting the complexity of content-based networks, while satisfying the desirable properties large distributed systems should have. This paper presents a new...
متن کاملHybrid Publish-Subscribe: A Compromise Approach for Large-Scale
The purpose of this article is to propose a scalable, topologically and traffic-wise self-adapting approach to a publish/subscribe paradigm for supporting event-based applications on a wide-area network. Large event systems requiring an efficient group communication as well as anonymity of particular peers tend to be fully decoupled. The publish/subscribe paradigm provides this requirement whic...
